As always I love how deeply you look, think and write. Your overview of how technologies from the middle ages forward have shaped western civilization is well researched and insightful. Your understanding of the times you grew up in and how it has shaped your generation was most interesting to me. The issues you addressed, especially how cut off we are from our biological selves, a sense of community and the physical realities of the world concerns me a great deal. We simply just make up reality. Looking forward to more of your discussions about analog and digital values :)

Very nice perspective, and spot on with respect to the issues. I am afraid that I am increasingly convinced that we will be extinguished as a species, simply because of our unwillingness to work together as individuals, groups, and nations. We all used to think it was going to be nuclear war; I think it more likely now to involve creatures based on silicon replacing us. Shall we say we're not exactly getting anything remotely like leadership in this country... E
